13/141 Magnet House including garden wall
with gateway


House attached to Magnet Cottage (q.v.). Early C18; mid-late C19
restoration. Random and coursed rubble limestone; ashlar chimney;
stone slate roof. Two-storey with attic. West front: 2-window
fenestration, mixed mullioned casements. Ground floor 3-light to
left with hoodmould; 2-light above in gabled eaves-level dormer.
Central late C19 gabled porch, pointed doorway having hoodmould and
panel inscribed 'PAX' in gable apex. Curved garden wall, gateway
having opening matching that to porch. North side: gable end with
upper floor 3-light casement, small reset 2-light C13 lancet above.
Ashlar chimney to rear. Interior not inspected. Building is
possibly medieval in origin, but extensively rebuilt to form
present house.
