Gate Piers and Boundary
walls to No 48

GV II

Gate piers, boundary walls, and gate. Early C19. Two pairs square gate
piers in limestone ashlar with moulded cappings over frieze, and with
plinths, c 2.3 m high overall, linked by wall at back of pavement. c 1.2 m
high in coursed and squared limestone with saddle back coping, formerly
carrying iron railings, and with short section connecting to No 50 (q.v.)
adjoining. To left-hand piers small wrought iron gate, right-hand piers
wide-spaced carriage opening but no gates.
