Peninsular Barracks
Built circa 19(X) on site of unfinished palace designed by Sir C Wren for
Charles II and later destroyed by fire. See Wren Society, Vol VII. The
present layout bears no relation to the original plan, and if any parts
of the originalbuildings are incorporated in the present barracks they
are unidentifiable with the possible exception of the giant composite
