SU 5832 NEW ALRESFORD BROAD STREET
13/40 No 43 (Cranley)
House. C18, and late C19. Brick, with a tile roof. Symmetrical front (east)
of 2 storeys and attic, 3 windows, with a single-storeyed unit of the-later
date at the north side. C20 flat-roofed dormer, moulded eaves fascia board.
Red brick walling in Flemish Garden wall bond, showing altered openings.
Sashes in exposed frames (the upper middle being a painted panel). Doorcase
with pediment and frieze, broken forward above simple scroll brackets,
pilasters, panelled reveals and 6-panelled door. The north side is a Tudor
style gable with ½-timbered frame and roughcast filling, above red brick
walling in Flemish bond, with a flush yellow band at transome level, a high
plinth, deeply chamfered reveals to the large opening, which has a projecting
battered base. 8-light mullion and transome window with a tile capping. The
north side ends in a buttress/gatepost.
