House. Late C16, mid-C18 alterations, restored mid-C20. Timber-framed,
rendered infill on sandstone rubble base, brick refacing, plain tiled
roof with parapet at west gable end, paired star-shaped brick ridge
stacks and rebuilt brick external stack at west gable end. Hall and
cross-wing plan, both of two framed bays, main ridge at right angles
to road with cross-wing at east gable end; two storeys and cellar.
Framing: some replacement timbers, four square panels from sill to
wall-plate, long straight braces in lower corners, short straight braces
in upper corners, tie-beam trusses with two collars and queen struts
in gable ends of cross-wing. Front elevation to south: C20 doors
and windows; main part has two 2-light ground floor casements and three
2-light first floor casements; double doors adjacent to cross-wing; cross-
wing has two ground and first floor rectangular lights and a rectangular
stair light. The left gable end is refaced in brick and has a plaque
dated 1766; the right side elevation of the cross-wing has a 3-light
wood mullioned cellar window. Interior: hall has stone inglenook fire-
place and cross-beamed ceiling.
