9/177 Noverton Farmhouse
Farmhouse. Mid-C18 with mid-C19 alterations. Brick, plain tiled roof
with parapets and stacks at gable ends. Two storeys, attic and cellar
with dentilled eaves cornice. Three bays with small gable above central
bay; outer bays of ground floor have C19 hipped-roofed canted bay windows
with 4-pane sashes; three first floor cross-casements with cambered heads;
12-pane sash with moulded architrave in central gable; central entrance
has C19 hipped-roofed porch on timber posts and a half-glazed door which
has a moulded architrave and transom light with two glazing bars.
Interior retains its original oak dog-leg staircase with turned balusters
and moulded handrail. A C19 single-storey wing projects to left side with
a bay window similar to those on the ground floor of the main part of the
house. The interior of this addition is panelled throughout (VCH 4, p 342).
