4/63 Dingwood Park Farmhouse
Small country house. Circa 1690s. Red brick and hipped plain tiled roof;
panelled brick stacks supported on broad full-height angle projections.
2 storeys and cellars. Five window, 8-pane sash windows, the central
first floor window is narrower, all in flush frames; 2-light windows with
chamfered mullions to the cellar. Chamfered stone string over ground floor
and stone weathering to the plinth. Central 6-panel door under a fanlight and
in a doorcase with an open pediment on brackets. Between the outer first
floor windows are two stone cartouches of arms. Setback kitchen wing at
right under a hipped roof and with a single stone 2-light cross window on
each floor. The side and rear elevations have stone 2-light cross windows
in chamfered mullions and surrounds and some sash windows. Interior: Retains
very fine plasterwork. Hall: ceiling of 2 rectangular compartments with an
egg and dart cornice. Dining Room (right): bolection moulded stone fire
surround and curved brick fireback; the ceiling is divided into 3 rectangular
panels by moulded beams and the panels are enriched with a wreath of fruit
and flowers, floral sprays and branches of oak and bay. Drawing Room (left)
formerly included the hallway; fireplace as Dining Room; ceiling of 6 plain
coffered panels, egg and dart moulded cornice. Study (rear left): 3 panels
to ceiling, divided by moulded beams and enriched with a wreath of oak and
a central oval panel of a rose surrounded by sprays. First floor right:
ceiling of 3 panels and a fireplace as the Dining Room. Staircase with
panelled dado, moulded handrail, closed string and bulbous turned balusters.
