12/72 Brewhouse at

(SE of house)
Brewhouse. C17. Timber frame on brick sill, plastered, brickwork at W
end, with steep old red tile roof. A 3-bay, single-storey structure,
facing N. Jowled posts and long straight braces to tie-beam. Straight
tension braces in walls. Queen post roof with raking posts and 2 purlins
to each slope. Converted to an RC chapel for R.H. Benson before 1914 but
eventually abandoned when RC church built nearby. Remains of fittings,
choir gallery, battened N door in moulded pointed frame.
