Public House. Mid C17. Remodelled and extended C18, C19 and C20. Timber
frame, plastered, tiled roof with some slates. Brick extensions and
stacks. Long range with small crosswing to right. 2 storeys. Front:
ground floor projecting lean-to extension with entrance. 3 first floor
casements in timber surrounds. Plinth. Modillion eaves cornice. Large
ridge stack to right of main range. Left end external stack. To right
gabled wing has exposed wall plate and lower ridge than main range.
Casements. Ground floor lean-to extension to right and to left,
continuing from front. To rear C19 range parallel with main range with
separate lower ridge joining crosswing. Further 1 storey flat roofed C20
extension into garden not of special interest. Interior: ground floor
large fireplace, exposed timbers. (RCHM Typescript).
