Built in 1884. Custom built as a dual fire station and reading room. Now Sandgate
Library. Late Cl9. 2 storeys applied timber-framing with pebble-dashed infill.
Hipped tiled roof having left side square bell cote surmounted by a fishscale
tiled spire. lst floor has left side Scottish baronial style bartizan with 3-light
sash. Band of machicolation between ground and lst floors. The ground floor
has a left side simple doorcase and a right side entrance designed to accommodate
fire engines.

Nos 23 to 39 (odd) form a group with Cottage to rear of No 39, Nos 41 to 65 (odd)
Including 43A, 45A, 55A and 6lA. (Nos 3l to 37 are buildings of local interest).
