SK 91 NE NEW ROAD (South side)

4/42 Church Farmhouse and outbuilding



House of C17 with C19 outbuilding. Coursed squared stone with Collyweston
slate roof and stone coped gables, part shouldered, and that to front
with broken stone finial. Moulded stone central ridge stack. and end stack
to rear. L plan, main range projecting forward to road, gable facing.
2½ storeys of stone mullion windows. On gable end a shallow 2 storey
canted bay with 5-light to each floor and 3-light with hood mould over.
On left end 2 and 3-light windows and door with porch. On right inner
return a 3-light with 2-light over and 4-light with 3-light over. On
facing wall a former door filled with 2-light, a further 2-light to right
and 3-light over. On right end gable a blocked basement 2-light with
a 3-light each floor above, the upper with hood mould. Door with porch
and 1-light in right return. 1 storey extension with pantile roof to
right. The outbuilding is in angle of L, of similar materials, the gables
with finials and is of 2 storeys. Small gable with first floor door beneath
faces road. 2-light on left end, 3 blank windows on right end and windows
and doors to rear.
