Gate Lodge Cottage to former park of Stoughton Grange (demolished). Early C19. Stucco lined out with channels to imitate rusticated ashlar masonry. Gables have elaborately cusped barge boards. Slate roof in diminishing courses, one and a half storeys. The double gable on the east side is later with similar details to the west wing, but Welsh slate roof and renewed windows. Central stack with diagonal flues in west wing. Single flue stack to each gable of east wing. Symmetrical west or entrance front with gabled arched porch below cross gable with moulded quatrefoil light. The gable is crudely pedimented by a moulded entablature. Flanking windows are recessed under 4-centred arches. South elevation facing the road has gable with crocketted finial and heraldic relief crest within recessed quatrefoil. Single storey canted bay window with moulded cornice. Side single light casements and central 2 light casements with ornate glazing bars.
