Early-mid C19 3-bay villas. 2 storeys and basement. Low pitched, hipped slate
roof with eaves soffit. Multicoloured stock brick with stuccoed front.
No 4 Moulded architraves to sash windows with glazing bars. 5 steps to prostyle
Ionic porch with fluted columns. 4-panel door (the 2 upper panels glazed) with
cornice head and decorative rectangular fanlight. Garage extension at left.
ICC blue plaque "Nathaniel Hawthorne 1804-1864 American Author stayed here 1856."
Nos 6 and 8 similar. No 6 has 6-panel door with 4 of the panels glazed; and
raised attic, with 1 sash window, in centre.
No 8 has plain reveals to sash windows, mostly replaced; keystones to 1st floor
windows. Ground floor windows in projecting straight bays with swept lead roofs.
Similar roof to wood trellis porch with reeded columns.

Nos 4 to 12 (even) form a group.
