The description shall be amended to read:

Hall house, now 2 commercial premises. Probably C15; altered late C16, C18, C19 and
C20. Large-panel timber-framing with plastered wattle and daub infill; replacement
C18 and C19 brick, No 25 painted; plain tile roof; brick stacks. Open hall of 2 or
more bays with slightly-projecting 2-storey cross-wing on right; in late C16 floor
and chimney inserted in hall; refronted C18, in line with cross-wing; late C19 refenestra
tion, shop front to No 25, right gable wall, and chimney; No 25 largely reconstructed
and with rear addition C1980. Elevation now of 2 storeys; 4 bays (1, 3), the 2.proper-
ties defined by giant pilasters with stepped capitals which rise to cogged eaves.
Chamfered plinth to No 27 which has central late C20 6-panel door in wooden architrave
with bracketed hood and blind window over. No 25s shopfront has canted window, door
recessed on right, fascia and cornice. Windows are 6-pane sashes in reveals, those
on ground floor with segmental brick arches. Right gable has raised verge with stack
forward of ridge. Ridge stack between properties. Rear: exposed timber-framing,
under built in brick, retains 3-light solar window to left bay and blocked 6-light
hall window. Interior: No 27, has further surviving members of the original timber
frame, including partition wall between hall and cross-wing; jowled wall posts, those
at central hall truss formerly arch-braced to tie-beam; original closely-spaced broad
floor-joists and chamfered cross-beam in parlour. Hall has late C16 stop-chamfered
spine-beam and joists; small section survives of chamfered bressumer of original fire-
place, the 1st-floor fireplace having moulded lintel. Roof over No 27 retains section
of original, sooted hall crown-post roof, having 2 arch-braced crown-posts, that at
parlour end with one brace to collar purlin and one to tie-beam, the other with 4,
now 3, braces (to collar and collar purlin), the braces set on ledged base of post;
posts are square on plan and unmoulded. 6 pairs of collared rafters between crown-
posts, and one beyond (to left) the rest of that bay replaced and with chimney inserted.

One sash window to No 25 and further 2 to No 27. Red brick, with brick pilasters
at party walls. Tiled roof. No 25 has a C19 shopfront.
