Terrace house. c.1695, the stucco facing with scribed coursing probably of
1848. Stuccoed, slate roof. 3 storeys and dormered mansard. 2 windows
wide. Ground floor window and doorway altered mid C.20. Upper floors,
with architraved recessed casements, are framed by giant fluted stone Ionic
pilasters directly supporting large-dentilled cornice which (pace the
Survey of London) are probably original. They are surmounted by short
piers, capped by shell acroteria, flanking the attic parapet. Interior
retains the upper flights of original or early C.18 dog leg staircase with
slender turned balusters. Surviving part of Nicholas Barbon's original
development of Gerrard Street laid out from 1677.
