Farmhouse. Late C16 with later alterations and additions. Flint with brick
dressings. Plain tiles to earlier east range, otherwise pantiles. Complex
plan. East front of 2 storeys with dormer attic. To right full height canted
bay with parapet pierced by 2 and 3-light brick cross casements of C19. To
left one 2-light brick cross casement each floor. Gabled roof with one gabled
dormer and casement. Central octagonal bell-based ridge stack with corbelled
top. Internal north stack with diamond flue. To north a C19 cross wing with
stepped gables, now with C20 details. East front with flat buttress at south
corner. South gable on kneelers. Gable wall with 5 renewed 2-light brick
casements. Running parallel to'east wing a second cross wing of C17 origin
but now entirely C19. 2 storey canted bay against south gable with 2 and
3-light brick cross casements. 3-light attic window above. Between the 2
ranges a door below a 2-light cross casement. Interior. C17 staircase within
timber framed well. Stairs have moulded handrail and flat balusters arranged
in groups of three. Square newel posts. Dining room with cruciform bridging
beams moulded into roll and hollow chamfers. Joists are ovolo and roll
moulded. Small frame panelling with arcuated frieze. 4-centred fireplace
below 3 bay overmantel with arcuated frieze. Lounge with overmantel
constructed of C16 and C17 components (not in situ) and re-used C16 tie beam.
Roof of east range of principals and 2 tiers butt purlins, the upper tier
staggered. Curved windbracing and collars.
