Parish church. Medieval. Flint and some iron-bound conglomerate, brick
and stone dressings. Thatched roof. West vestry, nave, chancel. Remains
of western round tower now a vestry. C19 stone belfry; remains of tower
stair having conglomerate quoins to north west and south west corners. 3
bay nave now widened to south; diagonal buttresses, buttressed to south.
2 3-light windows with alternate stone and flint voussoirs over and panel
tracery restored in C19 to south; to north blocked doorway perhaps of re-used
stone; square headed 2-light C19 window. Chancel has lancet to south of
C13 with evidence of earlier openings; 2 light C19 window; to north 2
lancets. East window of 3 lights with intersecting tracery. Buttressed
south porch to first nave bay; blocked windows to east and west; porch
doorway with continuous chamfer, corbels inside arch supporting fillet and
roll moulding; hood mould over; niche above 2 light cusped window with
quatrefoils over under square hood mould. Stepped gable in C16 brick with
re-used stone head at apex. Nave doorway has thin shafts. Medieval door
with restored stoop beside. Interior. C19 roofs. Cll/12 tower arch with
stone imposts; large pointed niche beside. Simple chancel arch with impost
moulding. Box pews, ramped at back of north side. Medieval screen with
C18 upper parts; C18 communion rail. Carved arms of William and Mary on
west wall. Octagonal font; quatrefoils in panels on base; cusped blank
panels to bowl. Coffin slab with cross at west end. Pulpit made out of
C17 pieces.
