gatepiers to forecourt

GV II

Wall, gate and gatepiers. 1893 by Fairfax B. Wade. Coursed squared limestone and
red brick, with limestone dressings. Double-leaf timber gates with iron bars
with spear finials. Piers have stone bases and bands of red brick in stretcher
bond. Gates are flanked by low coursed squared limestone walls with stone
balustrades. Moulded balusters of square section divided into bays by plain
stone piers with moulded stone caps level with stone rail of balustrade. 1 bay
to left of gates, 6 to right. Pier to left end banded with red brick.
