Church of England chapel of ease. 1868, dated on vestry, the gift of Miss Jane
Anne Bates of Milbourne Hall. Ashlar with Lakeland slate roof. Mainly Geometric
style. Porch-tower with spire, nave, chancel and vestry.
Porch-tower has pointed-arched doorway with gablet over and niche with seated
Christ. Clock stage above and 2nd floor bell stage; 2-light bell openings with
waterleaf capitals and pierced quatrefoil over, in frame of dogtooth. Broach
spire. On west side of tower a 2-storey round stair turret with pierced
quatrefoils and conical stone roof.
3-bay nave has cusped lancets and string which rises over windows and continues
on to chancel where it drops to form a sill string.
2-bay chancel has one 2-light Geometric window and one cusped lancet. 2 large
offset buttresses. 3-light Geometric east window. Lean-to vestry on north
side has datestone and initials of donor, also tall corniced chimney.
Gabled roof with flat coping and foliate cross finials.
Interior: Panelled wood ceilings. Good contemporary, Gothic wood lectern,
pulpit and choir stalls. Brass and wrought-iron altar rails. Reredos is a
copy in stone of The Last Supper.
Tall twisted lamp standards, formerly for gas, attached to pew ends. Round
font with crocketed base.
