2/45 Railway viaduct over
River Wansbeck
Railway viaduct. 1847 for the York, Newcastle and Berwick railway. Engineers
Robert Stephenson and T E Harrison. Rock-faced stone with tooled ashlar dressings.
9 segmental arches. Tall tapering piers, those to river with rounded cutwaters.
Moulded impost band, rusticated voussoirs.
