5/61 Clumber Bridge and
Cascade (That part in The
former Workshop M.B)

G.V. II *

Bridge and cascade. 1763. By Stephen Wright for the Duke of
Newcastle. Ashlar. Plinth and curved abutment walls. 3 unequal
semi-circular arches with reeded soffits and projecting fluted
keystones. Central piers have cutwaters with domed caps and
above, pilasters. Rusticated flanking piers. Abutment piers
have single rusticated niches with keystones. Above, balustrade
with moulded coping. Abutment balustrades have terminal piers
with moulded plinths and domed caps. To north, curved ornamental
cascade. Tufa. One and a half metres high and approx. 70 metres
wide. South side is in the parish of Carburton.
