White Hart Inn


Inn, now public house. Early C17 to centre; early C18 to left; mid Cl9 to right,
possibly incorporating some earlier structure. Stone uncoursed rubble plinth to
centre; part-rendered large timber-framing to centre, with arched braces to
first floor, having painted brick and rendered infill; painted C18 brick to
left: C19 brick to right; old plain-tile complex roof, with area of stone slates
to rear; brick stacks. 2-storey, 3-window central range, with 2-storey, 2-window
addition to left, and 2-storey cross-wing to right. 4-panel part-glazed door to
centre of central range with open porch supporting projecting gabled room to
first floor. 12-pane horned sashes to ground and first floor left and right of
central range, with lower portions of ground floor sashes filled with C19
stained glass. 2-light wood-mullion window to projecting room to first floor
centre. Brick ridge stack to centre. Of addition to left: 10-panel door to
centre, 12-pane unhorned sash with cambered brick head to left. Flat brick band
between ground and first floors. 2 blind recesses to first floor centre and
left. End stack to left. C19 cross-wing to right. Paired sashes to ground floor
with C19 moulded wood surround, 12-pane unhorned sash to first floor with flat
brick arch. Rear: C18 timber-framed staircase turret to right of centre.
