Listing Text

2/31 Yate Cottage and Giffard

Two cottages. Late C17. Cottage to right built in early C18. Coursed limestone
rubble; thatched roof; brick stacks to left, stone stacks finished in C20 brick
to right. One storey and attic; 4-window range. Timber lintels over C20 door and
early C20 casements; early C20 casements to half dormers. Gabled roof; gable end
stacks, external to right. C20 gabled extensions to each gable end, that to the
right incorporating the present entry to Giffard. Interior: Giffard has elm
beam, and 2-bay collar-truss roof with butt purlins and small arch brace from
principal to tie beam. Interior of Yate Cottage not inspected but likely to be
of interest.
