11/130 Crossing Cottage
Level-crossing keeper's cottage. Circa 1848 with later additions and alter-
ations. Roughly coursed limestone rubble with angle quoins; slate roof
with fretted bargeboards and pointed finials. Cruciform plan; Tudor Gothic
style. 2 storeys. Cast-iron latticed casements, one on each floor to
left gable and in canted bay to ground floor of centre gable with 2-light
window above. Entrance in angle between left and centre gables; 4-centred
arch with hollow spandrels and ledged and braced door. Central red brick
ridge stack with top rebuilt in late C19 brick. Included for group value.
Oswestry Road is shown as Whittington Road on O.S. map.
