Former Workhouse, derived in plan from Samuel Kempthorne's "Panopticon" design of
1834. Possibly by Scott and Moffatt.
Administrative block faces east: 3 windows, glazing bar sashes. Central door with
cornice and transom light. The Y-plan building behind is also 3 storeys with glazing
bar sash windows, the north and south wings have 4-1-4 bays with central gabled
stair breaks. Single storey framing wings.
