porch, Church of St Mary
Chest tomb. C17. Sandstone, alabaster sections and blue lias panels. Steeply pitched ledger top, dentil moulded
cornice, frieze carved with swags and drops moulded architrave, divided into 2 bays on North and South fronts with
semi-circular headed sroded blue lias panels, alabaster winged cherubs in spandrels with central alabaster drapes, East
and West ends 'en bombe' with carved palms West, skull and cross bones East. It would seem that the frieze and cornice
have at some time been painted as traces of brown pigment remain. Poor condition at time of survey (March 1984).
