6/23 Barn to Redgate Farm
GV II
Barn. Probably late C16 with later alterations and additions. Timber-framed on brick
plinth, weatherboarded. Thatched with some plain tiles to south and pantiles to
additions. 5-bay frame with midstrey to south and wagon entrance to north. later
additions to north and south. Wall posts, some jowled, tie beams with mortices for
arch braces, now replaced by knees. Groundsill, middle rail, studded walls with some
arch braces and tension braces to some posts. End walls rebuilt, probably C18.
Principal rafter trusses with collars. Two levels butt purlins with wind braces to
upper level.
