Former farmhouse, c,1580-1620. 2 storeys. 3 cell plan. Timber-framed and
plastered. Glazed pantiled roof, with an axial chimney, the shaft rebuilt in
C19 red brick. At the left hand end are a pair of original console brackets
beneath the gable. C20 small-pane casements. C20 boarded entrance door in
rear extension. A typical example of a 3-cell house, with evidence for a pair
of service rooms with twin doorways, (all partitioning in this area now
removed). Unchamfered 1st floor joists. Close-studding and clasped purlin
roof. Back-to-back open fireplaces in hall and parlour and a small original
arched fireplace in one chamber. A blocked diamond-mullioned window in the
rear wall, and evidence for others throughout.
