Manor house. Medieval, reconstructed in C1620 with alteration c1709 as a stone in the west gable shows. H-shaped plan. Stone with tiled roof having 5 clustered brick chimneystacks. South front consists of 2 gables between 2 gable ended wings. 3 storeys. Moulded stone string forms hood to ground floor window. One window to each storey under each gable, all symmetrically placed with 5 lights, mullions and one transom to 1st and 2nd storeys. 3rd storey has window with 4 lights and mullions without transoms. Top window in west gable is blocked. Leaded lights, some original. All windows have moulded rectangular dripstones. Moulded stone coping to all gables. C17 moulded door surround. Interior contains a very fine well staircase (dated 1620 with the initials I E R built by the Richards family) with turned balusters and heavy acorn finials and pendants and grotesque corbels, a fine arch to the staircase with reeded pilasters and strapwork decoration, a 1st floor early C17 wainscotted room with strapwork motifs at the top. The Great Hall retains medieval layout including step at one end for dais. Large open fireplaces in several rooms with stone lintels. Some decorative features of early C18 in east wing.
