6/65 Cross House

House in street row. Front is C19 and C20, but property may be C18 or earlier
at back. Squared and coursed limestone, rubble at back and small brick exten-
sion; slate roof. Two storeys and attic, 2 windows, all C20, but prominent C19
hipped slate dormer with glazed cheeks. C20 door far left, overlight,
pediment-like hood, flush voussoirs to openings. A boot scraper in stone
surround. Large brick stack to right. Back is complex, has wing in 2 storeys
with good 2-light paned casement at first floor; a lower continuation includes a
louvred light, then small brick gabled extension. The whole appears to have
been some form of workship or commercial activity attached to the house front,
which is mainly of interest as group value.
