4/228 Wallmead Farmhouse

II
Farmhouse. C17, altered late C19. Rubble stone, Welsh slate
roof, stone and brick stacks. Gable end to road, through passage
to rear of stack. Single storey and attic, 2 windows. Central
4-panelled door in late C19 gabled porch, C19 three-light recessed
chamfered mullioned casement either side with relieving arches.
Two 3-light mullioned casements to full gabled dormers. Right
return has 2-light recessed chamfered mullioned casements to ground
and first floor. C20 three-light casement to attic. Rear wing
to right has 3-light recessed chamfered mullioned casement and C20
attic dormer. Left return has C20 mullioned casements and one C17
two-light mullioned casement. Rear has C20 or original mullioned
casements, blocked doorway to rear of former through passage.
Interior not accessible at time of survey (January 1986), but
possible that house contains pre-1600 features, as suggested by
through passage plan.
