Listing Text

Barn at Farnhill Hall

Barn, 1835 (on keystone). Hammer-dressed watershot stone and stone slate roof. Very
long symmetrical facade to west with segmental-headed east entry. Coped gables and
ball finials. Three pointed-arched breathers over cart entry and plain breathers at
regular intervals just under the eaves. Later outshuts at east side one of which has
a re-used 2-light double chamfered stone mullion window.
Inside 11 large king-post sawn trusses. Shippon with ceiling of stone flags.
A barn of similar proportions formerly stood on this site, round which this structure
is said to have been built.
