The Green


Small house, early C19. Slobbered rubble and stone slate roof. Two storeys.
nearly central plank door in plain surrounds, and sash windows with glazing bars
to either side, with similar surrounds. Gable chimneys. Said to have been a
squatter's cottage, which its situation suggests. Inside Ellis Cottage (but
opposite the inscribed doorway to Ellis House) is a very large elliptical arched
fireplace with a shield on the lintel carved with the same initials and the date
