Mid C19. Pink brick. Ashlar dressings. Pitched slate roof. Two storeys. First
floor string. Two principal bays, each with 3 round-headed lancets, those on first
floor set within giant semi-circular relieving arches, and each bay crowned by
moulded gable. Between these, and taken slightly higher, is a pedimented centrepiece
with a round-headed window with shafted reveals and moulded voussoirs. Two outer
bays, gabled on end elevations, with paired round-arched lancets on first floor
and round-headed doors on ground floor. Typical of the best contemporary classicism,
and apparently aware of French examples, such as Hittoff's Gare du Nord, Paris.
