Small country house. Late C17 for Thomas first Lord Fairfax with later additions and alterations of c1710 for the Milners and of 1920 including wing and tower to right and entrance porch, these latter of no special interest.
Reddish-orange brick with ashlar dressings and Welsh slate roof. Rectangular on plan. Three storeys, seven bays with central breakforward in two stages. Plinth. Quoins. Entrance in early C20 porch has double doors with overlight within pilastered surround with hood. Ground and first floor have twenty-pane, and second floor has fifteen-pane unequally-hung sashes all with moulded ashlar architraves, that to centre of first floor has ornamental vase balustrade with acanthus consoles supporting hood. Remains of first floor band. Moulded second floor band. Dentil and modillion cornice, hipped roof, side and front stacks.
Interior has six-fielded-panel doors, some moulded cornices, shutters to most windows, otherwise not fully inspected.
