7/5 Cliff Cottage

House. Probably C17 with earlier origins and C19 alterations. Cruck
frame,whitewashed limestone rubble, later addition in brick to right,
thatched roof, brick stacks. 3-room hearth-passage longhouse plan with
former byre to left, living accommodation to right. 1 storey with
attic. Board door with 3-light Yorkshire sash and small C20 window to
left and 4-pane fire-window and two 2-light Yorkshire sashes to right.
2-light Yorkshire sash half dormer over extreme right-hand window.
Ridge stacks. Interior not inspected but said to contain heck and salt
box by inglenook. Hayes and Rutter, Cruck-Framed Buildings in Ryedale
and Eskdale, 1972.
