4/56 Plum Cottage with front
wall, railings and gate

GV II

House. Late C18. Red brick, Flemish bond, pantile roof with 2 lowest
courses of stone slates. 2 storeys, 3 bays, with rear rooms under
continuous outshut. Low cobbled foundation course and slightly projecting
brick plinth cut by brickwork of bow windows. Central 4-panel door with
plain doorcase and cornice. Flanking, segmental bow windows have sashes
with glazing bars to central panel. 3 flat-arched, 16-pane sash windows in
flush wood architraves, with stone sills, to first floor. String course at
first-floor level. Dentilled eaves cornice. Front garden wall of brick
with stone capping approximately 40 centimetres high surmounted by iron
railings. Bars have flowered heads and rails are plain. Gate has bars and
dog bars with flowered heads. Iron gate piers with ball finials.
