1/114 Weir and bridge between
Ripley Lakes


Weir and bridge. Probably 1843-44 for Sir William Amcotts Ingilby.
Gritstone and ashlar, cast-iron railings. Weir of 5 tiers; 3 segmental
arches to bridge with rusticated voussoirs and heavy roll moulding at
roadway level. Cast-iron balustrade composed of 2 tiers of cinquefoil and
trefoil-headed arcading with circular motif at road level. The bridge
carries a carriage drive between the upper and lower lakes. See North
