Bandstand in Locke Park

Bandstand, 1908 by Lion Foundry Company of Kirkintilloch. Model number 23 from the foundry’s catalogue, a late-C19 design. Cast-iron on low brick base with stone coping. Eight cast-iron ornamental columns with foliated capitals have elaborate openwork brackets supporting the similarly treated arcaded frieze. Felt covered ogee-domed top with lead covered central cap. Timber soundboard below dome.
