Public house, Dated 1737, altered. Roughcast and scored stuccoe, C20
pantile and Welsh slate roof. 3-storey, 3-bay facade onto Market Street with
2-storey wing facing King Street on right return having addition beyond.
Plinth. Central doorway has C20 door and 3-pane overlight in corniced
architrave, sash with glazing bars over. Outer bays, both recessed, have 2-
storey bow windows with C20 casements to ground floor and sashes of 8, 12
and 8 lights to lst floor; over each bay a C20 casement with projecting sill
flanked by iron tie-plates forming numerals of date '1-7-3-7'. Flat-topped
parapet masks roof with stacks at front-right corner and to ends of ridge.
Right return: wing has door on left beneath bracketed canopy; two 16-pane
curved sashes on right with flat 16-pane sash over; later windows on right;
2 brick ridge stacks. Lower addition on right with roof lights, ventilators
and end stack.
