GV II
Public house and dwelling with self-contained flat. Early C19. Roughcast,
C20 pantile roofs. 2 storeys, 4 : 1 : 4 bays; The Old Bells on left having
elongated wing to rear left. Taller central bay (part of The Old Bells)
breaks forward and has impost band to a tall round-arched recess containing a
sash with glazing bars to each floor; pedimented gable. To left: bays 2 and
4 have doors beneath segmental arches, bays 1 and 3 with projecting sills to
2-light horizontally-sliding sashes with glazing bars in reveals beneath
similar arches. 1st floor: matching sashes set in recessed panels with
segmental arches, bay-2 opening narrower and masked by inn sign.
The Chimneys (to right): has square-headed ground-floor openings, bay 1 with
2-light horizontally-sliding sash, bay 2 with door, later casements on right.
1st floor: projecting sills to C20 casements beneath segmental arches, bay 2
window blind. Gable copings to far right with ridge stack over bay 3 of The
Chimneys; end stack to left of The Old Bells. Barn attached to rear wing of
The Old Bells is not of special interest.
