House including former Roman Catholic Chapel. Early C19 refacing of earlier core. Ashlar gritstone, Welsh slate roof. 5-bay front with parallel range to right rear and taller chapel block, roofed at right angles, attached to rear left. Classical details to house, Gothick details to chapel. 2 storeys, 5 bays with central 3-bay pediment and smaller pediment to wider bay 1. Plinth, banded rustication to ground floor. Clasping angle pilasters,another pilaster to right of bay 1, all decorated with sunken cruciform motifs. Central Gothic glazed door in cavetto-moulded surround with pilaster jambs, frieze and cornice. To left, 20-pane sashes in architraves, to right, similar surrounds to unequally-hung sashes of 10 lower and 15 upper panes. Sill-band to 1st floor windows, all 20-pane sashes in architraves. Floating pediments to bay 1 and 3, floating cornices to other bays. Band above. Continuous cornice, simple round-headed acroteria, blocking course. Corniced ashlar end stacks, another to ridge. Cross to front apex of chapel. Rear: to chapel, 3 trefoiled openings to upper floor, kneelers and gable copings. Window at eaves in left return with 3 triangular-headed lights. Left return: Door and window in square-faced surrounds to left, two windows of 3 triangular- headed lights to 1st floor, right window blocked. Right return: tripartite sash to right in plain surround. Plain ashlar aprons beneath two 1st-floor sashes in architraves. Double roof linked by flat-topped corniced parapet surmounted by plain acroteria flanked by ornate brackets.
