6/50 Tan House Farmhouse

GV II

House. Late C17 with mid-C19 alteration. Large dressed stone to
front, rougher coursed gritstone to sides and rear, stone slate roof.
2 storeys. 2-cell, gable-entry plan, double-depth. Quoins. Dripmould
over ground-floor windows which are double-chamfered mullioned, lacking
some mullions, of 4 lights, 5 lights and 2-light fire-window. 1st
floor has 3 C19 flat-faced mullioned windows of 3 lights with a wider
central light. Gable stacks. Rear has 2 double-chamfered mullioned
windows formerly of 4 lights lacking 2 mullions to 1st floor. Set
between C19 stairwindow with impost block and keystone.. Right-hand
return has doorway with composite jambs and chamfered surround.

Interior: housebody has large heavily-cambered bressumer supported
on stop-chamfered heck-post; stop-chamfered spine-beam and floor
joists. lst-floor has oak-panelled room with board-and-muntin
panelling on 3 sides with triple reeded stiles. Several original
oak-panelled doors with double-arched lintels and reeded central
stile.
