3/24 Church of St Peter (formerly listed as Parish 26.1.67 Church of St Peter)

GV II

Parish church. C14 core, substantially remodelled during C19 and extended to west in 1912. Sandstone rubble, stone slate roof. Nave and chancel with south porch and south vestry, west bellcote. Nave and chancel: six bays; south front, early C20 trefoiled ogee-headed light to right of C20 gabled porch, gable end of vestry further to right with similar trefoiled ogee-headed light to chancel end, part continuous stone bench to south front between porch and vestry and from vestry to east end. Interior: C19 or early C20 arch braced collar-beam trusses with decorative struts above collar. Set in south wall of nave are two panels with elementary carving of a crucifix and lettering, ascribed to C11. (RCHM, Vol I, p 173).
