School. 1909-10 by Brown & Kerr. Queen Anne style with Baroque influences. Red brick with stone dressings and machine tile roofs. North-east front of 2 storeys arranged as a central block with projecting wings enclosing an open courtyard. Right and left of the wings are 7-bay classroom blocks of 2 storeys and dormer attic. Main block of 7 bays. Screen to ground floor lit through 2 casements right and left of the late C20 central door. Behind the screen shows the first floor of the main hall: large central round-headed window with multiple glazing bars set under a gable; 3 6/6 sashes either side. Hipped roof. The projecting wings have paired pilasters to the corners of the upper floor and 5 pilasters to the flanks facing into the yard. Sashes as before. Each wing has a doorway protected by a segmental hood. The schoolroom blocks have ground-floor fenestration of alternating square and larger round-headed top-hung casements. First floor is similar except that the round-headed windows are developed into through-eaves dormers. INTERIOR. Plain. The main hall rises through both storeys. Iron balustrade to gallery.
