Church. C12, C13 and C14. Regular coursed lias granite and rubble, part
rendered, with ashlar dressings and lead, tile and slate roofs. Aisled nave,
chancel and west tower. Chancel: South elevation of 2-window range of 2-light
Decorated windows with shallow arch heads. Small south door opening, now
blocked, is probably C12 with semi-circular arch head. North elevation similar
with one 2-light window under shallow arch head and single lancet to the right.
3-light east window under shallow arch head. Steeply pitched roof. South aisle
of 3-window range of two 2-light windows to left and one single-light
square-headed window with wooden frame to right. Lean-to roof with brick and
ashlar parapet. 6-light east window has square head with wooden mullions and
transoms. South porch of brick, probably mid C19. Plank inner door has C14
moulded stone surround with cinquefoil and quatrefoil decoration in the
spandrels. Single-light west window with arch head. Lean-to roof with brick
parapets. North aisle of 3-window range of 2 double lancets to right and 3-light
square-headed window to left. North door to right of centre. Various label stops
have crude facial images. 4-light east window has square head with wood mullion
and transom, similar west window. Nave clerestory of 3-window range to south and
2-window range to north. Single-light square-headed windows. Shallow pitched
roof with castellated parapet. West tower of 2 stages. 2-light west window in
lower stage and 2-light bell-chamber openings to upper stage. Castellated
parapet above. Interior: Double-chamfered chancel arch. Three and a half bay
arcade. That to the south has one C13 circular pier to the west, the rest is C14
with double-chamfered arches and continuous chamfered piers. The north arcade is
also C14 with double-chamfered arches and octagonal piers. Double-chamfered
tower arch. C14 nave roof has tie beams with carved bosses. Aisle roofs also
contain medieval timbers. Pulpit C18, panelled with tester. Base of
Perpendicular screen. Communion rail C18 with turned balusters. Stained glass:
Fragment of medieval glass in east window. Panelled pews probably C18. Hatchment
above tower arch.
