Gazebo with garden wall attached. c1780. Gazebo is ashlar with
rusticated quoins to first floor; grey slate roof. Upper floor
has rusticated quoins.
EXTERIOR: gazebo 2 storeys, one window. Open arch on ground
floor has elliptical head with wide voussoirs resting on
impost band; first-floor band. Renewed sash window above has
glazing bars, flat stone lintel and slightly projecting stone
sill. Gutter cornice below swept eaves of low-pitched
pyramidal roof with left tall yellow octagonal chimney pot
with plinth and cornice. Left return has round-headed
ground-floor arch at right, with impost band; blank first
floor.
Right return has curved flight of stone steps against garden
wall with renewed wood handrail; boarded door to store under
steps. Round headed open arch to left of steps. Renewed
6-panel door in first floor under flat stone lintel.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: wall is course squared stone and brick
with flat stone coping; attached to rear of gazebo has shallow
buttresses; well-cut coursed squared stone to right of gazebo.
Part extending along High Street and to left of gazebo;
similar stone up to two-thirds of its height and topped with
brick and a single coping course of stone. This section is
stepped down at left end.
