1. 5141 MAXEY KING STREET Lolham Hall TF 10 NW 3/381 15.12.55 GV II 2. Late C15/early C16 house with C18 alterations and additions. Coursed stone with Collyweston stone hipped roof. Two storeys. Three bays. Loft and right hand wings project with hipped roofs. C19 and modern mullion/transom casements with stone dripmoulds. The ground floor between the wings has modern conservatory. At the rear the north end of the east wing is gabled and weatherboarded this is part of the earlier house, the first floor of this wing has partly been demolished but the ground floor has corner buttress with set offs and small slit opening. Ashlar chimney stacks with cornices. Interior, first floor, east room has C16 panelling and Tudor arched stone fireplace. This room is said to have been used by Oliver Cromwell when staying here. The manor was held by the Claypoles from 1568 to late C17 and then sold to Lord Fitzwilliam. Cormwells daughter married a Claypole and his widow lived in the parish of Northborough.
