A Grade II Listed Building in Claverley, Shropshire

Gatacre Hall Interior 1988

Uploader's Comments

Gatacre Hall in ruin. The staircase has been taken down, so a ladder was required to reach the upper floors. The Hall was still Grand and had incredible sdtrength even in this condition. You could see where the paintings had been on the wall, the library was completely sacked with only a few pages of books laying on the floor. The ancient books, paintings & even the stained glass window had been stolen between the time Edward of Gatacre was killed in WWI and his brother Galfry arrived to take over the Hall. Tragedy!
