Summer House at Lakeside

A Grade II Listed Building in Thurnby and Bushby, Leicestershire

Summer house at Lakeside Court, Thurnby

Uploader's Comments

The late C19 summer house stands on an island in the middle of a large pond in the former grounds of Thurnby Court, now demolished. Single storey octagonal structure built of pink granite rubble, ornamented with white stone and a drip course of blue brick. The central doorway has a segmental arch and painted Egyptian columns as jambs. The windows and niches below them are blocked with decorative stone and rock as part of the original, folly style, construction. The eaves have brackets decorated with carved heads of animals.
